Many of you will come to Tuolumne County for the amazing outdoor recreational opportunities: hiking, biking, fishing, river rafting, camping, gold panning, skiing, snowboarding, sightseeing — our cup runneth over. With Yosemite such a short distance away, this is the perfect destination for outdoor adventurers.
But that’s not all Tuolumne County has to offer! The small towns that make up our county have much to offer in the ways of arts, festivals, theater, shopping, and entertainment, as well as many other attractions!
And one can’t forget our rich gold mining history! In the summer of 1848 gold was found in streams and rivers draining the Sierra Nevada and the foothills in what is now called Tuolumne County. You can still catch a glimpse back into time in Columbia State Park and see what life was like in the mining days of Tuolumne County.
Whether you come to visit us for the spectacular scenery and recreation, or for some of the many other attractions, we welcome you to Tuolumne County!
