The historic industries of Tuolumne County are mining and timber. In recent years, tourism has become the foundation of the local economy. With local economic changes and the decline in mining and timber, Tuolumne County's economy has expanded beyond resource-based industry. The local economy now includes a significant number of high tech firms providing components and equipment to California's and the world's growing use of computers and electronics. Working through our chamber we can help assure the continued growth of business in our county.

Many new firms have moved to Tuolumne County during the past 15 years. These moves were motivated by the combination of an outstanding quality of life as well as the proximity to state and world markets. The Economic Development Company works with relocating businesses to assist in site location and permits to ease their transition.

The bulk of Tuolumne County's industrial zoned property is along the Highway 108 corridor. There are also industrial zones off this state route which meet the needs of current industrial firms and with available land/facilities for lease. There are 980 acres of heavy industrial, 309 acres of light industrial, 1,097 acres of business park, and 1,354 acres of commercial zoning in Tuolumne County.

Shipping logistics are made easy with the choice of service from numerous trucking firms offering trans-continental, interstate, and regional service. Rail service is available on the Sierra Railroad and there are two general aviation airports, one of which is lighted and operates 24 hours a day.

Tuolumne County offers available properties, infrastructure, accessibility to markets, a motivated workforce, and professional assistance to make this a great community in which to do business. Additionally, the quality of life makes it a great place to live and the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce is here to assist!

It's time you joined our Chamber.
